You know that famous Linus quote from A Charlie Brown Christmas: " Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest?"
Well, of all of the SEWING PROJECTS in the world, this was the Charlie Browniest!
Let me start by telling you all that I had the best intentions when taking on this project! In fact, I was even extremely confident Saturday morning while cutting out all of the pieces!
Let's Start from The VERY Beginning (A very good place to start!)
I have to say I am not the BEST wifey when it comes to making things for my hubby. I don't have the best track record with things fitting correctly or coming out as visioned.
However, when I started sewing again, my hubby asked for a pair of slippers. Seams easy enough right? I mean Joann Fabrics has a FREE pattern so it can't be all that hard right?
So, as any great beginner sewist does, I let my hubby pick out the cutest Peanuts fabric, purchased all of the material and began cutting.... BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!
*Sigh* Stacy Stacy Stacy....
The Attempt
After excitedly cutting out the pieces and fusing on the interfacing to my fabric, I began reading the pattern. "Wait What? Huh? What does that mean? Is there a tutorial on this anywhere? Is there a key to the stitches they want me to use?"
Panic. Pure Panic. After attempting to look up the Stay Stitch and the Edge Stitch I came to a great decision...
"Hey, I've been sewing for a few weeks now, I should be able to figure this out with our without instructions right?!"
For any new sewist out there, this idea is almost always a FUUUUMMMMBBBLLLEEEE!!!
And that's exactly what it was for me. Oy vey!

Yes, I even completely ripped out the seam of one slipper and tried to RE-SEW IT! Ultimately, they were super lumpy (wrong type of batting. Honestly, this wasn't my fault. The pattern doesn't call for a specific type which is a big negative! Joann needed to specify a much thicker batter for the foot.) and two completely different sized slippers!!
*Sigh* Oh well, I guess I just have to be like Charlie Brown and keep trying to kick that football, no matter how many times I fall flat on my back!
