Welp, week three was a tough one for my Boilermakers. We suffered a disappointing 34-13 loss to TSU. Our starting QB had suffered a serious concussion during week 2, and while our backup QB shows promise, his lack of experience was also evident.
Thankfully, despite my lack of experience, I found success at the sewing machine!
A Happy Request
It was so nice to receive a message from one of my dear friends in Florida asking if I could make a fanny pack for her for the Disney holiday season. For those of you that don't know, I used to live about 15 minutes from Disney World. Being a local in that area is so fun, and Disney during the holidays is absolutely magical.
I couldn't wait to get started. We made a trip to Joann Fabrics on *gulp!* Friday the 13th. I sent her a bunch of different fabric options. Ok ok, so I couldn't just choose ONE Disney holiday fabric, so I got one for her and one for me!

Ok. How perfect is this fabric?!? I can't wait to see pictures of Gabby wearing this at the parks! I also love the beautiful bright red strap! It will pair perfectly with her new Disney jersey.
I used the same pattern as I did for the Florida fanny pack Adjustable Slimline Waist Pack by Sew4Home but I made a few adjustments.
1) Instead of having the zipper on the front, I really wanted it on the top for easier access.
2) Additionally, having the zipper on the top allowed for me to have a traditional bag lining. I followed the same steps for installing the zipper describes in the Cute Corners Cosmetic Case Pattern by Sew Can She pattern, so no zig-zag stitch needed! The inside is much cleaner.

I wanted to experiment a little bit with the fanny pack I chose to make for myself. Firstly, the adorable Disney Christmas fabric that I picked out was flannel. I had never sewn flannel before, but I absolutely love the structure it provided in the bag.
Secondly, instead of sewing the waist strap onto the outside of the back panel of the bag, I sewed it onto the inside of the back panel. When I went to sew the front and back pieces together, I sewed over the strap and seem multiple times. I wanted to experiment with this technique to see if it would provide more sturdy support. While it definitely feels more sturdy, I did not sew the strap evenly on both sides of the bag so its a tad wonky. However, it is only noticeable if you are looking for it.
The Inside of Both Bags
I know what you all are thinking- excuse me what about the linings!

Ohh the lining of these bags. So dang gorgeous! I couldn't resist plaid and sparkles! I used the same lining for both bags and let me tell you, that little warmth from the plaid and extra sparkle makes me so happy every time I see it!
