The Last Weekend of Summer- Starting to Feel Spooky

Stacy Schutte

August 17th, 2019

As I mentioned in my last post, my first trip to the quilt shop was extremely fun and productive. I left with 6 fat quarters, determined to re-kindle the sewing flame.

Well, like most of the world does, I went coocoo when I discovered the holiday section! The colors and patterns were incredible. My excitement to create with these fabrics was through the roof!

Even though football season had not started yet, my hubby's work load was beginning to pick up. He had to work all day Saturday, so I had another day to play!

The Bag

Because my sewing skills were a bit rusty, I wanted to try the same pattern from the week before- working on my thread tension, square corners and zipper sewing skills. Again, I didn't add the extra hardware that the pattern calls for to snap the zipper to the side of the bag. Because I was using this bag as a project bag for my knitting, I wanted the extra room that was provided by the zipper begin detached at the edges.

Additionally, I added a small pocket on the inside. Next time I will probable watch one or two more tutorials on how to make a cleaner pocket, but size wise it is perfect for holding stitch markers and darning needles.

Shut the front door because this project bag is SPOOKALICIOUS AND AMAZING! My favorite detail is that the spider web fabric actually has small ORANGE spiders on it that tie everything to together. My strangle little heart is in love with this bag. I have absolutely loved using it and cant wait to use it for many creepy crawly seasons to come!
